for more information on artists, places to stay and eat while you are here. I will be posting an update on my studio closer to the tour dates.
The Anacortes Arts Festival is also coming up. On July 31, Arts at the Port will be open from noon until seven pm, with an artist meet and greet from 5-7pm. The festival weekend goes from August 6-8.
Tulip Fields North of McLean Road was selected for this show.
I was glad to donate three woodblock prints to the Anacortes Arts Festival Auction. Thanks to all the art community supporters who participated in this event!
About Gene Jaress
I have been a working artist over the past 50 years. I am currently working on woodblock prints, a couple of paintings, and have half a dozen other projects in mind. The light and atmospheric conditions created by the Salish Sea, Skagit Valley and Mount Cultus looming to the east influence my work, whether it be painting, woodblock prints, or sculpture. My background in sculpture also informs that work, as I think in three dimensions when I am composing art, whatever form it will take. The other essential dimension is meticulous craftsmanship from beginning to end to create a quality piece of art.
"Without craftsmanship inspiration
is a mere reed shaken in the wind".
