Coming Up / Currently Showing
The Jansen Art Center is showing (virtually for now) my woodblock prints Red Tulip Fields at Dusk, 2 different 12 Crows monoprints, and the oil painting On the Horizon until December 2, as part of the Fall Juried exhibit. The virtual Winter Juried exhibit will open on December 3. I will be showing the woodblock of Winter Light on Mount Cultus, and the oil painting Fires Upriver - Smoke at Sunrise.
The Guilded Gallery juried show Celebrate Art will be from Nov. 4 until January 9, 2021.
My painting Refined Living in Anacortes will be shown there.

Taking a break from woodblock printing to finish a painting I started awhile ago. Changing mediums helps with mental and physical art fatigue.

About Gene Jaress
I have been a working artist over the past 50 years. I am currently working on woodblock prints, a couple of paintings, and have half a dozen other projects in mind. The light and atmospheric conditions created by the Salish Sea, Skagit Valley and Mount Cultus looming to the east influence my work, whether it be painting, woodblock prints, or sculpture. My background in sculpture also informs that work, as I think in three dimensions when I am composing art, whatever form it will take. The other essential dimension is meticulous craftsmanship from beginning to end to create a quality piece of art.
"Without craftsmanship inspiration
is a mere reed shaken in the wind".
